“Come to me, all you who are struggling hard and carrying heavy loads, and I will give you rest.”
“Put on my yoke, and learn from me. I’m gentle and humble. And you will find rest for yourselves. My yoke is easy to bear, and my burden is light. ”

Thanks for bird watching with me. Tammy Holton
While bird watching with Tammy since April 17, 2021 when she spotted the eggs of a Robin in a nest on her window ledge until May 4, I have been awed with the sacredness of a bird’s nest and how we go quietly on to observe and learn as Jesus instructed us to do. Tammy’s silence enabling us to watch the eggs with wonder! Observe the unveiling of babes!
Poet, Felicia Murrell in her poem “Silence” struck a harpsichord note from within my soul.
Silence:
“The sacred song trapped in a bird’s breast before its first chirp,…”
And, said Thomas Merton, “Silence is God’s first language”…
Yes, a mother bird with a worm fit for a small beak! A vine gently holding a branch! A heart yoked to a heart! Not long before one takes flight !
“I have been awed with the sacredness of a bird’s nest…” Just to look on Tammy’s photos and think on what Sara wrote is really entering into a sacred event. From the selection of the nest site, to the meticulous word and art skill involved in constructing the nest as the perfect nursery for these baby robins is a real wonder of God’s creatures.
“And, said Thomas Merton, “Silence is God’s first language”…now that is something to think on. That we must pay attention to and participate and communicate with the silence in order to really hear what God is saying.
Thank you for sharing the photo and account, Tammy and the words, Sara.
This Scripture comes to my mind when I read the words of Thomas Merton above…”Silence is God’s first language.” The Scripture comes from “Psalm 46:10
He says, “Be still, and know that I am God; I will be exalted among the nations, I will be exalted in the earth.” ✝️
