Recently I came across the book “Then Sings My Soul” which tell the story behind Christian songs. Turning to the song “Jesus Loves Me”,because I was doing a project for my Sunday School class, questions arose within me.
Two sisters, Anna and Susan Warner who after the Panic of 1837 found themselves go from riches to rags found they needed to do something to bring in money to live on. They both found they were gifted at writing resulting in 106 publications which they authored together and/or separately. Being obedient to God and not giving up or in other words standing on The Rock (Jesus) they persisted in the storm of their lives.
One of the novels written jointly was entitled “Say and Seal”. In the novel a little boy named Johnny Fox was dying and his Sunday School teacher comforts him by rocking him and making up a little song entitled “Jesus Loves Me”.
The sisters who went on to be in heaven never knew that the little song “Jesus Loves Me” was set to a children musical score and would be the best children’s hymn on earth. These are my questions:
What is the one thing we will do that will affect generations to come for Jesus?
Do we see stories in the Bible of others who have affected the earth for Jesus by one thing they have done?
Who on earth has done one thing other than the sisters above to affect the earth for Jesus?

In an earlier post a few months ago we posted MG’s piano. MG was a gifted piano player and when her earth time came to an end God had a protege ready to pick up and play in the same gifted way she played for many years. Jerry has her piano now and shared his success with us which helps keep her memory alive. Thank you Jerry. And, we are so proud of you! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻

My suggestion for us as we listen to these lessons individually and in our small group studies. a) pray for endurance to study. b) Ask the Holy Spirit to illuminate truth, understanding and wisdom for knowledge and application. c) pray for our teacher, Pastor Reggie as he faithfully studies and bravely delivers this timely message to all that will listen. d) And, finally pray for seekers to find their way to church and to these online lessons now and for time to come.
Keep in mind as you start this lesson, you will be asked; “Why have you done this?”

Let’s dig in.
(Of Prayer) “Hence it appears that to pray aright is a special gift.” John Calvin—- 10 July 1509 – 27 May 1564 was a French theologian, pastor and reformer in Geneva during the Protestant Reformation.

It’s zucchini squash time in the garden and I have been utilizing the zucchini from my garden in different ways. Sara gave me the idea to try to make chocolate zucchini cake the other day and searched for a recipe for me. I settled on the one below which sounded very similar to what she found. Instead of a two-layer cake, I made a 9” x 13” sheet cake in a glass pan; omitted the optional espresso powder; used canola oil and dark brown sugar; sour cream instead of yogurt; and iced with the milk chocolate icing suggested in recipe link. https://sallysbakingaddiction.com/2016/02/17/marble-cake/
If you like chocolate like I do, I think you will like this cake.
Ingredients:
· 2 cups (250g) all-purpose flour (spoon & leveled)
· 3/4 cup (63g) unsweetened natural cocoa powder
· 2 teaspoons baking soda
· 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
· 1 teaspoon espresso powder (optional)
· 1/2 teaspoon salt
· 1 cup (240ml) canola or vegetable oil
· 1 cup (200g) granulated sugar
· 3/4 cup (150g) packed light or dark brown sugar
· 4 large eggs, at room temperature
· 1/3 cup (80g) sour cream or plain yogurt, at room temperature
· 2 teaspoons pure vanilla extract
· 3 cups shredded zucchini (about 3 medium)*
· 1 cup (180g) semi-sweet chocolate chips
· chocolate frosting or vanilla frosting
Directions:
• Preheat oven to 350°F (177°C). Grease two 9×2 inch cake pans. (Make sure they’re at least 2 inches high, deep dish style.) Set aside.
• Make the cake: Whisk the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, baking powder, espresso powder (if using), and salt together in a large bowl. In another large bowl using a handheld or stand mixer fitted with a paddle or whisk attachment, beat the oil, granulated sugar, brown sugar, eggs, sour cream, vanilla, and zucchini together until combined. Pour into dry ingredients and beat on medium speed until completely combined. Beat in the chocolate chips. Batter will be slightly thick.
• Pour batter evenly into cake pans. Bake for around 25-32 minutes or until the cakes are baked through. To test for doneness, insert a toothpick into the center of the cake. If it comes out clean, it is done. Allow cakes to cool completely in the pans set on a wire rack. The cakes must be completely cool before frosting and assembling.

In reading “Praying with Smith Wigglesworth Faith-filled prayers for Fervent prayer warriors by Larry Keefauver” I ran across a prayer entitled “Praying Through.”
It raised questions in my mind as to how I’ve been praying.
Here is the paragraph I need help understanding.
“Teach me, O God,
Instead of praying about, to pray through the problem,
Instead of praying for, to pray in the Spirit,
Instead of praying to, to pray with Thee.”
Questions I have is, am I praying with God and what does that
look like?
