Word Meditation

The LORD said, โ€œMy word . . . that goeth forth out of my mouth . . . shall not return unto me void, but it shall accomplish that which I please.โ€
– Isaiah 55:11 (KJV)

I love hearing another’s story. It seems we never meet a person without a story. When we listen into their story we most likely will hear the moral compass of their life story. A WORD that gave design to their vocation, their hopes and dreams and yes, even things that seemed off course but found needful in their life journey as it was packed into their emergency travel kit.

Do you ever listen to yourself telling your story to others? Or, read what you journaled when you recorded your story?

Lazy, hot, steamy summer heat in No Virginia makes air conditioned coffee shoppes and ice cream digs hot spots to share and hear story. Recently, I took mental notes of listening as storytellers told their dot to dot stories. In meditating on words they told I found I could just focus on Isaiah 55:11 and find a basket of words to hold dear to my heart. Rejoice with them! Find Hope! Applaud!Peace! And, many other wonderful energies that bubble in their space.

It seems we find their hour glass with a sand flow as well as ours when we watch and heart listen from this view. “Declaring the end from the beginning, and from ancient times things that are not yet doneโ€ฆ”
(Isaiah 46:10, NKJV)

Scripture Thought

“Jesus did many other things as well. If every one of them were written down, I suppose that even the whole world would not have room for the books that would be written.”- John 21:25 (NIV)

This scripture seems funny to me in some ways now. Maybe Jesus didn’t know about Steve Jobs and Bill Gates and others that placed this iPad in my hand. The worldwide web is the whole world. I’m just sitting with my imagination running away with book thought of the many other things Jesus did.

Where have I seen Godโ€™s small miracles daily working in my life and the lives of others? I think I missed part B of my study verse, “for the books that would be written.”

I’m seeing our lives are so precious in His sight that we are a book in writing. Hey, would you like to read your own book? ๐Ÿ“”๐Ÿ“•๐Ÿ“—๐Ÿ“š

Person, Place or Thing

“He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit, while every branch that does bear fruit he prunes so that it will be even more fruitful.”(John 15:2, NIV)

Do you ever wonder why people, places and things seem to always be moving and changing in your life and others? Could this be part of the cutting off and pruning John is speaking of?ย

“Show me Your ways, O LORD; teach me Your paths.” (Psalm 25:4, NKJV)ย

Do you ever feel like a tumbleweed and wondering where is the landing?ย

For days I have been pondering this line of thinking. I’ve seen people being in places that was never even thought possible. Some people going places that was not even on their bucket list. Things that held the imagination captive for over 50 years that dissolved like an ice cube when life happened in unexpected ways.

As I write I want to sing my way through scriptures that connect to the two scriptures mentioned here and many that connect to the stories myself and others share. The active words from God that are recorded in scripture dance in my head like raindrops on a tin roof. ย “Those that wait upon the Lord shall renew their strength…,” says Isaiah. Now, we are waiting for the Lord but, ย John, the revelator says of Jesus; “Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and dine with that person, and they with me.” (Revelation 3:20) ย As we move through our days with a song, dance, clap, shout, weep, stomp, joy and wait for the knock let us pause and enjoy the meal.ย

Acts 17:28 “For in him we live and move and have our being. ย As some of your own poets have said, ย We are his offspring.”ย
“Remember the wondrous works that he has done, his miracles, and the judgments he uttered.” (Psalm 105:5, ESV)
