Measure of a Lie measures a man or woman

Measure of a Lie measures a man or woman!
By Sara

How does one measure a Lie?

God Hates Lies! Proverbs 6:16 records this fact for us.

The Apostle John on the Isle of Patmos reveals in Revelation 21:27 the outcome of falsehood. Also in Revelation 22:14,15 John gives a contrast between a lie and truth.

As I ponder and meditate the measure of A Lie, I ask some questions of myself and of others.

How generous are we with our lies when giving them to others?

Do we lie to Ourselves? To our Mother and Father? To our Children? To a Husband or Wife? To other Family members? To Friends? To our Co-workers or Employers?

Do we balance our lies while speaking with others while wanting a lie from them for ourselves? Ephesians 4:25 prohibit us from speaking a lie to others.

Just how does one measure a Lie?

Truth makes one free, so it would stand to reason a lie would make one a prisoner of self.

We have great potential to enlarge our dreams, live our hopes, live longer
and healthier with positive truthful thoughts and actions. While living a lie
will cage our potential into a “web of lies” locking the door of truth.

A Lie is like a crochet chain without the chain there would be no foundation and you could not bring forth a work of art.

Truth is a pearl of wisdom set in a glorious work of art….

One Lie links to another Lie and we continue with ours and allow others to add theirs to our lie to make a scheme and we become a great big Lie.

Wonder why God, Our Heavenly Father, hates lies so much? (John 8:44) We are told that Satan, the devil himself is the father of all lies. We find Satan wins us over with the beauty of his lies.

Satan surely had and has a chain of schemes for all of God’s children. His scheme is to make a beautiful wrap all for himself and wrap us warmly with him.

When you wrap yourself in Satan and his lies you lose control of just who
you are and your goals and dreams. You just gave Satan complete control of your life.

Satan feeds you, nourishes you and takes care of you as one of his children.

Are you a Pearl of great value set in Wisdom of truth or are you a lie linked to a chain of fools?

  1. You strip the fluff, expose the truth and force us to look at ourselves so if we are brave enough, we can make a determination as to whose child we really are and whose we want to be. Thanks.

  2. Thanks for the essay on lies.
It appears to me that the “chain of lies” as you wrote, is like a “house of cards”. As we look at society and governances about us, we detect the lies and the subterfuge, the chicanery, the fraud and the sham . Oh! How we discern it and point to it and say, “Aha! See? They are deceitful. Someone should do something about that!!!” But, how sad that we so very seldom identify our own
self-deception, but excuse and defend it and explain it away, not realizing that our own “house of cards” will come crashing down some day and the corruption of the LIE will be exposed.
THANK YOU FOR BRINGING THIS TO OUR ATTENTION and reminding us that we may examine our own motives to see if there is larceny in our own hearts.

  3. It came to my mind the song “Chain of fools” sung by Aretha Franklin” you got me where you want me I aint nothing but your fool, you treat me mean oh you treat me cruel, I’m added to your chain, chain, chain,……Sherman

  4. Being a worker in the art of crochet I know well that the foundation chain is indeed the lifes blood of the piece to be created. for if the count of the chain is off in any way you do not have a true to form design….and each stitch you add only makes the created piece look more awful….Dorothy

  5. Looks like from reading this that it’s better to live the truth and get a cold shoulder from someone than to live a lie and keep warm and cozy.

  6. I am in agreement that lies are inherently wrong. I have truely always wondered about the “little lies” children are told to make the imagination run wild.
Sara, do you believe that these are no different than a “general lie”. For example, Is Santa Clause’s “existence” a product of Satan or a product of the good intentions of parents?

  7. Dear Reader
How interesting! I so appreciate your insightful thoughts.

I believe lies are the intent of the heart for wrong. Santa, Easter Bunny, etc. has always seem to me to be “joy. happiness, art, drama, teaching tools and the greatest of all LOVE” for children and their imagination (as you wrote).

Santa surely is an act of truth of giving and love. Hopefully, you
will see that I truly don’t think this kind of thing is a lie.

Thanks for your love for our children!!! We need more of this!!!!

  8. NO ONE IS FREE FROM THIS SIN. NO MATTER HOW HARD WE TRY I BELIEVE WE ALL LIE. THE BEAUTY OF IT IS WHEN WE DO WE KNOW IMMEDIATELY AND I BELIEVE NO MATTER HOW SMALL(WHITE LIE)IT IS WE IMMEDIATELY FEEL BAD. HOW MANY TIMES HAS ANY ONE TURNED DOWN AN INVITATION EXPRESSING THAT YOU ARE BUSY THAT WEEKEND INSTEAD OF JUST TELLING THEM YOU REALLY DONT WANT TO GO.
SATAN HAS SUGAR COATED MANY LIES CONVINCING YOU THAT THEY ARE OK, JUST BECAUSE YOU BELIEVE YOU ARE PROTECTING SOMEONE YOU LOVE. WHEN IN ALL REALITY WHEN THEY FIND OUT IT WILL BE MORE HURTFULL TO THEM THEN IF YOU JUST TOLD THE TRUTH. IF WE STOP LOOKING AT THE TRUTH AS A BAD THING AND START LOOKING AT IT AS A FREEDOM. THE LIES WOULD TAKE BACK ON THERE ROLE AS “BAD” AND IMPOSSIBLE TO TELL. JERSEY

  9. I read an interesting quote today that might give us more food for thought. “The very spring and root of honesty and virtue lie in good education.” plutarch
