A Day in Church

I was so blessed to be in the Lord’s house yesterday, Sunday! I heard a great
message from God’s Word. The Minister/Preacher said that he remembers a
preacher saying…”sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you
longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay”.

He spoke about sin and how we can have “regret for sin”, “remorse for sin”, and
or “repentance for sin”. He used the example of Judus only having regret and
remorse for betraying Jesus, because he commited suicide. He than spoke
about Peter having regret, remorse, and repentance, for denying Jesus,
because repentance means you make a change. “Peter weeped bitterly”, God’s
Word says.He continued to use David as an example in Psalm 51. You can read
this scripture and know that David truly had a repentant heart, for his sin
with Bethsheba.

The minister/preacher stated that “God loves a broken heart,a bent knee, and a wet eye”. God help us all to have regret, remorse, and repentance for ALL our sins!

  1. appreciate the word ‘sin.’ I so appreciate the word of the minister “sin will take you farther than you want to go, keep you longer than you want to stay, and cost you more than you want to pay”.

When I read your blog, Tammy, I could only quote and sing Psalm 89:1 “I will sing of the mercies of the Lord forever; With my mouth will I make known, Your faithfulness to all generations.

If we are God’s agents of righteousness and goodwill, He will prove over and over again to us that He is a loving heavenly Father, supplying all our needs out of the riches of His own treasury. God has promised that you and your household should be saved. (Exodus 12:22-23/)

Thank God for the example of David and his not fearing to show us both sides of sin, darkness and light. The Word says a light will shine out of darkness. Our faith will be turned to sight, for we will see with our eyes and hear with our ears and rejoice in our heart. Even our Heavenly Father will sing over us.

Oh, how we love Him. Now may we have this love and compassion for others. That we are not afraid to share this wonderful truth ’till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledgte of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ.” Ephesians 4:13…God’s Word declares “if we diligently seek Him we will find Him.

There are no ends to the ‘springs of blessings’ when we know Him, obey Him, and love Him.

Thank you Pastor and thank you Tammy for sharing a day in church with us so we can all realize that if or when when we have regret, remorse, and repentance…the blessings for the sacrifice are endless.

  2. The 3 R’s used to stand for “readin’, (w)ritin’ and “rithmetic” But in the BODY OF CHRIST it should stand for REGRET, REMORSE AND REPENTANCE. I found another eye-opener in God’s Word this morning….The SIN OF PRESUMPTION…presuming a thing to be true without proof and acting upon it, jumping out ahead of God into something that might or might not be true or appropriate. “Assuming” is a dangerous proposition to step out on…taking liberties that one doesn’t have a right or authoity to do. David says in Ps 19:12-14…”I don’t understand my own errors. Clease me from secret sins. Keep me from PRESUMPTUOUS sins and let the words of my mouth and the meditations of my heart be acceptable unto You, Oh Lord God” AMEN!!

  3. Needles, what a great message you heard and shared. What the preacher said about sin costs you more than you want to pay, made me think of Romans 6:23 which says “For the wages of sin is death..”. How true.
Thank God for part 2 of that verse which says…”but the gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.”

  4. Thank you Tammy for sharing your day in church. This reminds me of Psalms 32. From the Message bible it says: Count yourself lucky, how happy you must be – you get a fresh start, your slate’s wiped clean. Count yourself lucky – God holds nothing against you and you’re holding nothing back from him. When I kept it all inside, my bones turned to powder, my words became day long groans. The pressure never let up; all the juices of my life dried up. Then I let it all out; I said, “I’ll make a clean breast of my failures to God.” Suddenly the pressure was gone – my guilt dissolved, my sin disappeared.” In Romans 3 – Message Bible “Since we’ve compiled this long and sorry record as sinners and proved that we are utterly incapable of living the glorious lives God wills for us, God did it for us. Out of sheer generosity he put us in right standing with himself. A pure Gift. He got us out of the mess we’re in and restored us to where he always wanted us to be. And he did it by means of Jesus Christ. Thanks Heavenly Father for your Son Jesus!

  5. Needles I thank You for what you shared as even in our retreat The dance of Healing…I came away with light being shed on certain areas of my heart that needed to go through just what you shared…and I have gone through and am now in the repentance stage (change)…and the best part is God is here with me helping me by His grace to bear the fruit fitting repentance….dj
