Rapture

Vivian from California ask. I was raised Lutheran and I just found out about the rapture. This is new to me. Are their scriptures to confirm the rapture?

I am a novice writer and painter who loves to be creative. I love singing but can't sing without a hymnal, except for children's songs. I love to make up my own songs and love the old hymns. I love to garden and got that love from my Mom and Dad who taught be everything I know from planting to harvesting to canning. I'm happy gardening, walking with my pug, JD Sir Winston Churchill, painting, and crafting. I love to spend Saturday's sitting in my rocker going through a bible study. I love working with elementary school aged children and seeing them use their creative gifts. I have taught Sunday school for a number of years and taught in the public schools for 18 years. I might say I'm retired but I spend most of my time subbing and enjoy it immensely. The kids spark my own creativeness.

  1. Rena, do you think Vivian would like a tape from my teachings last week from the Book of Luke, Chapter 16? I would be happy to send her one if you think appropriate.

  2. Praise God that Vivian has now heard about the Rapture of the saints with Jesus Christ when He comes for us in the clouds.
1 Thessalonians 4:14 says, “For if we believe that Jesus died and rose again, even so, those also who sleep in Jesus will God bring with Him. For this we say unto you by the Word of the Lord that we which are alive and remain unto the coming f the Lord sall not prevent them which are now resting in peace, (Dead in the Lord)
verse 16…”For the Lord Himself shall descend from heaven with a shout and the voice of the archangel and with the trumpet of God and the dead in Christ shall rise first and then we which are alive and remain
shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air and so shall we ever be with the Lord.
1Corinthians 15:51 written by St. Paul…”I show you a mystery. We shall not all die but we shall all be changed, in a moment, in the twinkling of an eye, at the last TRUMP, for the dead (in Christ) shall be raised and we shall all be changed…”
Matthew 24:30…” And then shall appear the sign of the SON of man in the heavens and then shall all the tribes of the earth mourn and they shall see the Son of Man coming in the clouds of heaven with power and great glory and He shall send His angels with the great sound of the trumpet and they (angels) shall gather together His elect from the four corners of the earth, the four winds and from one end of heaven to the other.
We yearn and look excitedly for Jesus to come and take us to Heaven with Him. He promised His church that He would do that and we await His return and keep looking for Him and keep our lives in order that when that trumpet sounds we might rise to meet Him in the air.

  3. The word rapture is not in the Bible. It comes from the Latin word “rapturus”, which means “to be caught up”. Paul talks about the “rapture” in 1 Thessalonians 4 :15-18 “15 We tell you this directly from the Lord: We who are still living when the Lord returns wil not meet him ahead of those who have died. 16For the Lord himself will come down from heaven with a commanding shout, with the voice of the archangel, and with the trumpet call of God. First, the Christians who have died will rise from their graves. 17 Then, together with them, WE WHO ARE STILL ALIVE and remain on the earth will BE CAUGHT UP in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air. Then we will be with the Lord forever. 18So encourage each other with those words.” Jesus also mentioned the rapture “to be caught up” in Matthew. Matthew 24:37-44 “37 When the Son of Man returns, it will be like it was in Noah’s day. 38 In those days before the flood, the people were enjoying banquets and parties and weddings right up to the time Noah entered the boat. 39People didn’t realize what was going to happen until the flood came and swept them all away. That is the way it will be when the Son of Man comes. 40 Two men will be working together in the field; one WILL BE TAKEN the other left. 41Two women will be grinding flour at the mill; one WILL BE TAKEN the other one left. 42 For you, too, must keep watch! For you don’t know what day your Lord is coming. We can also find the “rapture” in the book of John. John14:2-3 “2 There is more than enough room in my Father’s home. If there were not so, would I have told you that I am going to prepare a place for you? 3 When everything is ready, I WILL COME AND GET YOU, so that you will always be with me where I am.” If we are raptured up ( to be caught up, snatched away, ect….), we will see no death. We will not die. Jesus will take us away. The rapture ( the taking away) has already happened in the Bible. Genesis 5: 23-24 “23Enoch lived 365 years, 24walking in close fellowship with God. Then one day he disappeared, BECAUSE GOD TOOK HIM.” Also in 2 Kings 2:11″11 As they were walking along and talking , suddenly a choriot of fire appeared, drawn by horses of fire. It drove between the two men, separating them, and Elijah was CARRIED BY A WHIRLWIND INTO HEAVEN.” Enoch and Elijah never experienced death. If we have a close relationship with God and keep our focus on Him and His word, this may happen to us. I recently read a wonderful book “ARE THESE THE LAST DAYS? AUTHOR: GREG LAURIE. This book is full of wonderful information and may help answer some questions about the Rapture and the Second Coming. I believe we are the “generation” that will experience the Rapture. I think time is running out and we need to prepare our hearts and souls to meet Jesus at any moment. It may even happen tonight. We need to be ready at all times.

  4. I’d like to add the footnotes from my Bible on Chickenfarmer’s scripture above. Matthew 24:36 says: “It is good that we don’t know exactly when Christ will return. If we knew the precise date, we might be tempted to be lazy in our work for Christ. Worse yet, we might plan to keep sinning and then turn to God right at the end. Heaven is not our only goal; we have work to do here. And we must keep on doing it until death or until we see the unmistakable return of our Savior. 24: 40-42 ” Christ’s second coming will be swift and sudden. There will be no opportunity for last minute repentance or bargaining. The choice we have already made will determine our eternal destiny.” Let’s remind ourselves of John 3:16 here: “For God so loved the world that He gave His only Son, that whosoever believes in Him, shall not perish, but have everlasting life!”

  5. I am encouraged to know that Vivian wants to learn new things. I understand she has been many years in the church and still growing in her spiritual walk. I applaud you, Vivian.

  6. I’m posting this for Vivian as her computer has been down and she is anxiously awaiting her tech savvy grandson to arrive to fix it. I read her all the post and she was so excited to hear all the beautiful scriptures that each of you had posted to help her understand the Rapture. She said that with the finances of this nation and all the bad news that she wished that JESUS would come today. She said thanks to all who enhanced her understanding.
