10 thoughts on “A thought to Ponder

  1. Now, Gary, do you mean ….are we aware of God’s presence within ourselves and in all we do and think….OR… do we have a conscience like God, void of offense? Either is good, no?

  2. ‘Are you God conscious?’ If that is an absolute, then I would have to say no,not completely. God is so big and infinite that I don’t think my small consciousness can ever fully apprehend or be aware of Him while I am in this body.
I like what A.W. Tozer says in his chapter ‘Apprehending God’ in ‘The Pursuit of God.’
As we begin to focus upon God the things of the spirit will take shape before our inner eyes. Obedience to the word of Christ will bring an inward revelation of the Godhead (John 14:21-23). It will give acute perception enabling us to see God even as is promised to the pure in heart. A new God-consciousness will seize upon us and we shall begin to taste and hear and inwardly feel the God who is our life and our all. There will be seen the constant shining of the light that lighteth every man that cometh into the world. More and more, as our faculties grow sharper and more sure, God will become to us the great All, and His Presence the glory and wonder of our lives.
O God,quicken to life every power within me,that I may lay hold on eternal things. Open my eyes that I may see; give me acute spiritual perception; enable me to taste Thee and know that thou art good. Make heaven more real to me than any earthly thing has ever been. Amen.”

  3. I believe I am, I sure hope I am. I think I can judge whether I am or not if I have considered His ways in all my decisions, thoughts and actions. If I walk in the Spirt according to Galatians 5. I think my ‘God Conscious’ will speak real loud to me when I think of turning in another direction. Like my GPS which refuses to stop telling me to turn around when I make a wrong turn. The key to that little GPS is to have my destination programed in and it won’t let you make a mistake. I feel that way about the Holy Spirit, program Him in your conscious and He will not let you make a mistake! and I will find my destination!!!!

  4. I looked up conscious (Frankilin) 1.AWARE 2.known or felt by one’s inner self. 3.mentally awake or alert: not asleep or unconscious 4.Done with awareness or purpose.
Are we God’s conscious? I would have to say “yes”. 1. We are God’s “awareness”. He is aware of us and everything we do. 2. God know’s us. 3. God sets our alarms if we fall asleep (mentally or spiritually). 4. We were made with God’s awareness and His purpose.

  5. Hebrews 9:14 “14 Just think how much more the blood of Christ will purify our consciences from sinful deeds so that we can worship the living God.”
If we are God’s conscious we need to be purified daily.
1Peter3:16 “But do this in a gentle and respectful way. Keep your conscience clear. ………..”
1Peter 3:21 “And the water is a picture of baptism, which now saves you, not by removing dirt from your body, but as a response to God from a clean conscience. It is effective because of the resurrection of Jesus Christ.”

  6. I have just started reading, THE KNOWLEDGE OF THE HOLY by A.W. Tozer. It talks about how man in his consciousness tries to equate God as a creature like himself instead of concentrating on the majesty of God. He says when we do this we are entering into idolatry. Quoting Tozer -“The essence of idolatry is the entertainment of thoughts about God that are unworthy of Him. It begins in the mind and may be present where no overt (done openly) act of worship has taken place. This causes the church to go down a downward spiral. The only way we can overcome is to purify and elevate God to his rightful position. We then must hold onto the scriptures Wendy and Debi referenced above and let the HOLY SPIRIT be our GPS to our final destination as Sara said.

  7. Chickenfarmer, while it may be true that we are in God’s conscious is He in ours? I would like to invite you to rethink this question and answer.

  8. I was thinking that not only is God conscious desirable and to be pursued within oneself ….but it would be profitable for us to discern GOD consciousness in others, also. It would be advantageous, spiritually, to fellowship with God conscious people whose priorities were GOD FIRST LAST AND ALWAYS, instead of “me first, and leftovers for God and friends.

  9. Enoch walked with God – Gen 5:24 He was God conscious. He enjoyed a constant companionship with God. Wherever Enoch went, God was with him and Enoch was always aware that He was there. He could not flee from God’s presence – Ps. 139:7. Nor would Enoch want to do . He was a godly man. Am I? ?

  10. Gary, you are right. I did misread this quote. I guess I was tring to make up my own. I will say yes to your quote and yes to mine.:) Thanks, Pastor Gary for keeping me in line and for sharing this thought provoking quote.
