Words That Need No Sound

‘The heavens declare the glory of God,
and the sky above proclaims his handiwork.
2 Day to day pours out speech,
and night to night reveals knowledge.
3 There is no speech, nor are there words,
whose voice is not heard.
4 Their voice goes out through all the earth,
and their words to the end of the world.
In them he has set a tent for the sun,
5 which comes out like a bridegroom leaving his chamber,
and, like a strong man, runs its course with joy.
6 Its rising is from the end of the heavens,
and its circuit to the end of them,
and there is nothing hidden from its heat.” PSALM 19:1-6 ESV

  1. As I read this Psalm above, I remembered something in my musical background…a musical symphony entitled THE PLANETS.The information that I googled said the composer is Gustav Holst. It consists of seven movements one for each planet…but none for earth. So I googled the question…”Do the stars or the Planets have a sound? I found that NASA had recorded ths sounds of the planets Hawkeye Space Probe and I listened to the different sounds of the universe. It is amazing. This is what I perceived from the recordings and pictures I heard and saw. These are just my observations
Uranus rings sound like an organ vibrating on one frequency. Uranus itself sounds like an airport with a hundred jets taking off at the same time. Space 10 sounds like a section of oboes. Jupiter sounds are horns….like French Horns playing in 3rds. Miranda roars on different low pitches. Saturn’s multicolored rings hum. Neptune sings a pedal point sustained indefinitely . And our Earth the beautiful planet that God prepared for us especially……the Earth-Song is as a symphonic choir of a million choristers, singing a beautiful Hymn. I believe it is a hymn of praise to our Almighty Creator Jesus Christ. This was a revelation to me and a lovely one at that.

This is speculation but I wonder if the Lord God gave a song to the planets in the universe I believe the stars must have a song that could be discernible to the human ear. When all the stars and all the planets sing in symphonic harmony, like the rocks that will cry out in praise….the whole universe praises the Lord.
Thanks for sparking my interest as I read the Psalm it provoked me to search for the sound of music of the planets…Ps. 19.

  2. Those Scotties are spectacular in perfection and profile. What delightful Creatures. They make the snow even more beautiful. What a wonder they are!!

  3. Romans 1:18-21 gives us a photo of how nature speaks of God by His creative art and all are able to see. Hey, some refused to honor Him as God or even take a moment and give thanks.

Nice to hear sounds as MG speaks of. So often I have heard wind chimes that sing God’s glory in the wind. The roar of the ocean singing for runners’ energy yet gentle whispers for lovers’ lips. Many other poetic forms nature takes to delight the soul. But, all in vain when the knowledge of the creator is suppressed and the art is damaged and distorted in the minds. Futile in thinking and darkening of hearts says the writer of vs. 21 of Romans 8. Two choices for the mind to decide. Romans 1 is a great study of God’s creative art.

    1. I read this about the mind in one of my devotional readings tonight from Dr. Billy Graham’s “Unto the Hills” and thought it pertained to what Sara wrote above, “distorted in the minds.”
This is a portion: “The sense of guilt and sin that natural man carries within himself renders him unfit for the performance of his duties, renders him sick in both body and mind. It was no accident that Jesus combined healing with His preaching and teaching when He was on earth. There is a very real relationship between the life of the spirit and the health of the body and mind. Peace with God and the peace of God in a man’s heart and the joy of fellowship with Christ have in themselves a beneficial effect upon the body and mind and will lead to the development and preservation of physical and mental power. Thus, Christ promotes the best interest of the body and mind as well as of the spirit, in addition to inward peace, the development of spiritual life, the joy and fellowship with Christ, and the new strength that comes with being born again.”

  4. Thank you for posting the picture of Bonnie and Rocket and the caption underneath. They sure do seem to be honoring God by standing still and taking in the view He created with such attentiveness! What an example.
And in reading Romans 1 as you suggested and thinking about what you said, “Two choices for the mind to decide.” it is clear that when the mind chooses to ignore what God is saying, the light goes out and there are terrible consequences.
