  1. Imagine to “be the walking dead” while you think you are alive? But, if we are the walking dead and not know it are we capable of imagination?

How many Perry Mason watchers do we have here? One of my ver favorites.

  2. Sara, you ask above, “But, if we are the walking dead and not know it are we capable of imagination?”

One definition of imagination is: “the ability of the mind to be creative or resourceful.”. Using the Israelites as one example of the walking dead given in Pastor Reggie’s lesson, it looks like their creativity and resourcefulness was limited to how they could “oppress the righteous”, scheme to “rob, steal, cheat and take advantage of the poor” so they could build luxurious houses; “trample underfoot” the poor; and pay off and bribe the judges so the poor had no rights or justice. Pastor Reggie informed us that this type of justice sounds familiar because the “judicial system in America has become corrupt and we’re all going to pay a terrible price for that.”

This reminds me of a scripture about imagination: “…for the imagination of man’s heart is evil from his youth…” (Genesis 8:21). So, it looks like the walking dead can have an imagination, but it’s ‘creativity’ results in the ‘disintegration of society’ that we learned about from this lesson.

    1. Debi, sure looks like we are all given the beauty of free choice which might just be a stimulate for imagination. We seem to always float back into the river of knowledge found in Galatians 5 live by the flesh or the spirit. As we look at the walking dead as flesh and the great imagination and the seeds planted in the mind that produces a great harvest as Debi listed in comment above and then imagine the seeds and fruit produced by the lifestyle of the teachings of Jesus we see heaven and hell contrast.

Amos, in the biblical book of Amos always gives me a creative imaginative thought of farmer. He sure knew his seeds and the timing of planting and harvest be it legal of illegal crops. As I listen daily to the impeachment inquiry of our present president I am totally baffled at the battle of legal minds fighting for what they want. Its interesting and painful to hear how minds can defend wrong doing according to the $$$$ and prestige afforded them. I often wonder when I hear the words, its wrong, its illegal, it’s against the constitution and the ones that have the power deny such claims and hang around their necks the sign, Evangelicals…..

Also reading history tells me its love of money and power as the forever home until the return of King, Prophet, Priest, Jesus the Christ. Therefore, I disagree slightly, (has become corrupt) with Pastor Reggie’s comment in his sermon that Debi quotes, “Pastor Reggie informed us that this type of justice sounds familiar because the “judicial system in America has become corrupt and we’re all going to pay a terrible price for that.”

What a thoughtful, creative, mind provoking lesson!

      1. Sara, your comment, “Its interesting and painful to hear how minds can defend wrong doing according to the $$$$ and prestige afforded them.” and ,”Also reading history tells me its love of money and power as the forever home”, I think relates to something Pastor Reggie told us in this lesson.

Speaking on ‘homes’ from 5:11, he commented on the expensive houses of ‘smooth stones’ that the wealthy lived in (rather than in simple clay buildings) made from very costly cut stones that were typically reserved for residences of the King and for temples. These many wealthy individuals had become wealthy at the expense of the poor. They thought nothing of robbing, cheating, stealing and taking advantage of poor tenant farmers so they could build and live in splendid homes. Pastor Reggie said they “trampled the poor underfoot.” To me that’s like saying I don’t care who I step on or use to get what and where I want to get on the ladder of ‘success.’

  3. Debi, you and Reggie plus June sure make a team. He speaks from a Church of Christ church and you are educated gifted teacher listen and record his words adding even more scriptures that are not on his recording because of limited time in church. And, let me not forget the timely posted of an extremely talented, gifted and faithful lady, our June.

Now, this subject is a very provoking subject. It says are you a Christian or not? When I read the notes above in Debi’s comment and listen to Reggie I only cry. I saw this in eastern NC when I was a little girl. My Mother with little children woke up as widow, sole owner of farm, with livestock, home and more. Who robbed the widow with young children? Yes, the story repeats itself over and over. Many years later as adult I’v heard other stories of robbing the widows all in the name of Jesus.

I saw an article just this am lead in, “7 in 10 say US ‘on the edge of civil war.” I wonder how many young US adults could stand and describe this which might have happened on the soil which they stand. And, they and their children might be one slaughtered again. But, let’s bury our heads, steal, rob, lie, gossip and wound.

Matthew 10, “3) But whoever denies Me before men, I will also deny him before My Father in heaven. 34) Do not assume that I have come to bring peace to the earth; I have not come to bring peace, but a sword. 35) For I have come to turn ‘A man against his father, a daughter against her mother, a daughter-in-law against her mother-in-law.…

    Luke 12:51
“Do you think that I have come to bring peace to the earth? No, I tell you, but division.”

    Revelation 6:4
“Then another horse went forth. It was bright red, and its rider was granted permission to take peace from the earth and to make men slay one another. And he was given a great sword.”

    Jeremiah 15:10
“Woe is me, my mother, that thou hast borne me a man of strife and a man of contention to the whole earth! I have neither lent on usury, nor men have lent to me on usury; yet every one of them doth curse me.”

    Luke 12:49-53
“I am come to send fire on the earth; and what will I, if it be already kindled? …”

    John 7:40-52
Many of the people therefore, when they heard this saying, said, Of a truth this is the Prophet…

Now, there is a little mind salve here. Our Biblical teachers are advising the Bible is being misunderstood often.

Guess I better stop and look for mirror.

    1. So much again to think on Pastor Reggie. Makes me tremble for our nation. Think I need to pull up a Perry Mason show now (Sara, I loved and watched it also.). I’ll hold off on the mirror right now Sara. Debi, as I went through the lesson, you are right in saying they don’t care who they step on or use to get what and where they want to get on the ladder of ‘success.’ We hear it on the news as well.

The history of Israel’s refusing the warnings of God seem to be warnings being echoed through history to the USA.

The following is summary of what I heard from the lesson.

God heard and saw what was happening in the nation (Israel) and called Amos, a farmer prophet, to deliver a message to the nation (Israel) which they ignored, “Love good and hate evil. Seek me and live.”

Corruption flamed throughout the land. It started at the gates of the city, where judges slammed the poor and squeezed them of their last cent. Meanwhile, the rich raised their cups with stolen wine, toasting each other for their devious ways of bribery and buying robes with deeper pockets to hide all they had taken from the poor. No cover up of their theft, as mansions with the finest materials were constructed for everyone to view.

People awaken, did you know that, “Nothing can withstand the awesomeness of God.
Man compared to God is pitiful and puny.
The abundant life is not the lust of money, power, things and evil deeds done (kill, steal, and destroy)
The abundant life is seeking the LORD and live.
No plea for not hearing God’s warnings! They were announced byHis prophet and Word.
So now the Judge of all the earth sends His judgement. Burn!!! You have now had a fair hearing!

Vineyards of laughter are now replaced with weeping
People of the land, in the market place working their evilness, now wailing for God’s mercy.
Those who robbed, stole, and destroyed – lay dead in the streets.

Appeals for the majority of the nation, it is too late. How about a righteous remnant. Only if they do good and hate evil, there could be more in number.

Judgement? Oh, how about the three main worship centers
Oops, they took God out of their worship!
Were not these churches patriarchs – Abraham, Isaac , Jacob, and Joshua????
      Those who walked with God?
Oh! There was no repentance with contrite lives. So……..

Total destruction of the dead men walking..
      Sound familiar?
      Seek GOD and live
