If you build it they will come

“If you build it they will come.” If you will they will? We have all heard these words and some of us have watched and loved the movie “Field of Dreams” over and over hoping to learn how to build so they will come.
In “Field of Dreams”, an Iowa farmer all his life was searching for his dreams. Then one day, his dreams came looking for him. He hears a voice in his corn field tell him, “If you build it, he will come.” This farmer interprets this message as an instruction to build a baseball field on his farm.” And, come they did!
A tag line for this movie is, “If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true.”
We at times while dreaming our dreams read the words of Luke from the Word of God, “With God nothing is impossible.” (Luke 1:37) In this story, Mary the Mother of Jesus, soon to be, hears a voice telling her that her cousin, Elizabeth, in her old age had conceived a son. Mary believed the impossible and went to see and the incredible came true. Have you ever thought about making a tag line for your dreams?

A Light Behind

every word, deed and action one takes or does or receives.

A light in the cellar. A light in the attic. A light in the kitchen. A light on the night stand. The porch Light. And, the red light districts even know the power of light.

The light from the eyes reveal the intent of the soul. The light of the mind shines bright in words and actions. The heart (light) wattage is stamped on a heart valve. Then of course the 3-way bulb gives shades of light on our words, deeds and actions.

Do you know your wattage, color, and use? Matthew 25, informs us, ” You’re here to be light, bringing out the God-colors in the world. God is not a secret to be kept. We’re going public with this, as public as a city on a hill. If I make you light-bearers, you don’t think I’m going to hide you under a bucket, do you? I’m putting you on a light stand. Now that I’ve put you there on a hilltop, on a light stand_shine! Keep open house, be generous with your lives. By opening up to others, you’ll prompt people to open up with God, this generous Father in heaven.” Message vs.15.16

Position yourself for your Miracle

Are you in a position to receive your miracle? Have you ever prayed, hoped and waiting and still no answer. Maybe you are not in a position to receive your miracle. When God sent His Son, Jesus, to die on a cross for our iniquities, He was positioned for resurrection. Yes, His miracle and our miracle.

John 8:32 “Then you will know the truth and the truth will set you free.” How does one act when they have been set free? Have you ever been in a situation where someone had to set you free? Have you ever found a little animal entangled and it took you to set them free? Did you wonder will the little thing fly or walk again?

Truth alone will not set anyone free. That is what Jesus said! He said when you know the truth you will be free. So the real truth is you have to know (gain knowledge, understand and have the recognition of truth by personal experience) or truth moves all around you but you are not free.

Harry Potter, my classroom Iguana

During church Sunday, Sara asked those of us that work in the public school system to relate a highlight/success of their first week of school. Here is one that I was excited to share. It is a teaching strategy idea that she gave to me that really worked in my high school classroom!

As background, I had attended a teacher workshop prior to the beginning of school provided by our school system. It was about learning and employing teaching strategies and we were asked to implement them using our course specific content. The idea was to engage students and improve achievement. Sara likes for us to share with her what we, teachers, learn at these sessions each year and she interacts with us how we will practically utilize them. So, after sharing my content idea (something about comparing apple varieties) for teaching comparisons (similarities and differences) she offered one that she felt would excite the students even more, and it did. It was to use the class iguana, Harry Potter (see his picture…Sara named him), and have the students compare him to an alligator.

JESUS, The Package Which Keeps Giving JOY

With the celebration of the birth of Jesus we are reminded that God
bridged the gap between us and Him with the birth of his Son, Jesus.

In the Old Testament it was prophesied according to Isaiah 9:7:
Of the increase of his government and peace there will be no end. He will
reign on David’s throne and over his kingdom, establishing and upholding it
with justice and righteousness from that time on and forever. The zeal of
the LORD Almighty will accomplish this.
