My Father’s Rich You Know
My father’s rich you know and I’ll tell you why? He spends hours playing softball with me. He shows me how to hold a bat. He yells run fast. See my father takes time with me, because my father’s rich you know.
He spends hours at the river with me. Throwing me in and listening to me giggle with glee. He yells swim and then yells, “Let’s do it again.” See my father has time to spend with me because he’s rich you know.

To My Dad
The old man’s face was gaunt and thin
His hair now solid grey.
His hands where muscle once had been
Showed only bone today.
He tightly clutched his old cigar
Then touched the unlit end with fire.
Moderation in all things
“Moderation in all things,” is an extrapolation of Aristotle’s Doctrine of the Mean (as presented in Nicomachean Ethics). I have often heard this quoted as being a proverb right out of the writings of the Apostle Paul, not so. But, Paul did use a very similar idea when he wrote I Corinthians 9:25.
