My Father’s Rich You Know

Being that it is Thanksgiving I especially give thanks to a heavenly
Father who always has time to listen and who has surrounded me with so
many wonderful friends on the Daily Lily. I give thanks for parents
who were always there for us.

My Father’s rich you know and I’ll tell you why? He spends hours
playing softball with me. He shows me how to hold a bat. He yells,
Run Fast. See my Father takes time with me, because my
Father’s rich you know.
My Father spends hours during the summer at the river with me. He
throws me in and listens to me giggle with glee. He yells, Swim
and then yells, Let’s do it again.
My Father also shows me how to fish. He then has me put my own bait on
the hook and yells, You can do it. See my Father has time to
spend with me, because he’s rich you know.
My Father spends hours playing games (board games, cards, and bad
mitten) with me aContinue reading “My Father’s Rich You Know”

Trumpet – The Big Green Turtle

Once upon a time, there lived a giant turtle. All the other turtles were very tiny and could move very quickly.

Trumpet, the big turtle, was so sad. He was so depressed.

“Why did God make me so big?” he asked. I can hardly move around in this immense jungle. The turtle cried out to God everyday to change him or his surroundings, but nothing happened.

The more depressed he became, the more he was made fun of by the other turtles. They called him a baby. “Hey,” they said, ” you may be big, but we tell you, you are a b-i-g baby. Stop all that whining and grow up.”

A wise, wise turtle saw how upset Trumpet was. He prayed and prayed. “Lord, how can I help Trumpet. What can I say to help him? Why did you make him so big?” The wise, wise turtle sat for a long time before the Lord. He heard from the Lord and then went to Trumpet.

“Hi Trumpet,” the wise one said, “I have just heardContinue reading “Trumpet – The Big Green Turtle”

My son, God’s Son

Monday afternoon, my son, Nathaniel, was very adamant about going in the attic. I asked him what did he need in the attic. He said, “oh, I just need to get something.” No matter what I said, it was obvious that he was going to be persistent, about getting in the attic, so I allowed him to go. While in the attic, he noticed the Christmas stuff, and asked if we could put the Christmas tree up. Well, I explained that it is a little early for that, since we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, and he was agreeable. Yet, he continued to look around at the Christmas boxes, and noticed the little Nativity box. He said, “Oh, mama, can I put the Nativity scene out?” I thought to myself, “it is never too early to remember the baby Jesus’s birth.” I said, “Of course, you can!” He so excitedly brought it down out of the attic, and I aContinue reading “My son, God’s Son”

GOD STILL SPEAKS

This article was circulated in our men’s Bible study and I thought it was worth reflecting on:

A young man had been to Wednesday night Bible Study. The Pastor had talked about listening to God and obeying the Lord’s voice. The young man couldn’t help but wonder, “Does God still speak to people?”

After the service he went out with some friends for coffee and pie and they discussed the message. Several of the group talked about how God had led them in different ways. It was about ten o’clock when the young man started driving home. Sitting in his car, he began to pray, “God… If you still
speak to people, speak to me. I will listen. I will do my best to obey.”

As he drove down the main street of his town, he had the strangest thought: Stop and buy a gallon of milk. He shook his head and said out loud, “God is that you?” He didn’t get a reply and started on toward home. But againContinue reading “GOD STILL SPEAKS”

Lighted Honeybees For The King

One day a small honeybee was sitting on a tiny flower. He was sucking in the sweet nectar of the flower. This day he was in the King’s garden. All the honeybees bragged that the King’s garden had the sweetest nectar and the prettiest flowers that they had ever seen. Thus, the nectar made from His flowers made the sweetest honey.

The honeybee would often sit and watch the King each day as He tenderly cared for each flower. He seemed to know just what to do to get rid of injurious things to the plant. He would once in a while pinch the biggest ones back. Surprisingly they grew back bigger and better with each plucking. The King tenderly caressed each flower and breathed in its sweet fragrance. Sometimes He was seen spending more time over one than another. He looked like He was praying for the flower. The flower always seemed to stand a little taller after such a touch from the King.

This is Our New Life

I had to write a poem about the I Have a Dream speech for a contest and this is what I wrote.
It is called This is Our New Life.
My brothers and sisters black and white
They did not give up without a fight
So everyone I see
Would soon be free
Look around for the blank pages to be found
With the discoveries it will see
You never know what is next for you and me
No one knew here today
Everyone would be free with every say
No one is picking cotton their whole life
Or doing another persons dos their whole life
Kids can have friends
Black and white again
My brother or sister black or white
Are not at any fight
Just holding hands
With all my friends
That was the dream
That is our NEW life
I hope you liked it!
With Faith,
GraceContinue reading “This is Our New Life”
