Quote for the week-end

“There is a wonderful mythical law of nature that the three things we crave most in life — happiness, freedom, and peace of mind — are always attained by giving them to someone else.”
– Peyton Conway March

As we honor and celebrate Palm Sunday, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, and Easter let us remember to give. Jesus gave His life for us. We have happiness, freedom and peace of mind because of Him. Because of His death and resurrection. So we are capable of giving these gifts to others by using the gifts He has given us to give to others.

Matthew 10:8 “Heal the sick, cleanse the lepers, raise the dead, cast out demons. Freely you have received, freely give.” vs. 14 “And whoever will not receive you nor hear your words, when you depart from that house or city, shake off the dust from your feet.”

Easter brings us such freedom!!!Continue reading “Quote for the week-end”

FROGS

In an attempt to encourage civility, respectfulness and courtesy, among our students and make it more palatable to them, I wrote, with the input from students from time to time, this little musical comedy “FROGS”.
In the following scene Sir Frogmere, a valiant and courageous amphibian and his sidekicks, Lord Lizzard and Sir Ignatius Iguana, a.k.a. “IGGY” have just come to the rescue of Princess Pale Moon who, has forgotten her crown in her excitement to meet Sir Lancelot Dancealot at the Palace of BURGER KING in town; the forgetting of which is an absolute NO-NO for any proper princess.
She sings as she comes upon the scene of valorous men, er, amphibians

“I FORGOT MY CROWN
I FORGOT MY CROWN I CAN’T GOT TO TOWN
WITHOUT MY CROWN
NOW I’M GONNA BE LATE AND MISS MY DATE
A PROPER PRINCESS NEVER MAKES A PROPER PRINCE WAIT
SO I MUST HURRY HOME I CANвContinue reading “FROGS”

Bible Knowledge

Only about 1 out of 4 people in the UK can place Bible stories in their proper order. They were asked quickfire questions with very
little time to answer. Why don’t you give yourself ten minutes and see if you can place these in order and then find where they are located in the Bible?

1. Feeding of the 5000.
2. David killing Goliath.
3. Shadrach, Meshach, and Abednego in the blazing furnace.
4. Noah and the ark.
5. Paul on the Damascus road.
6. The Sermon on the Mount
7. Solomon dedicating the temple.
8. Moses and the burning bush.
9. Peter’s vision of unclean animals.
10. Jesus and the woman at the well.
11. Aaron and the golden calf.
12. The Lord’s Prayer.
13. Isaiah’s vision of God
14. The Good Samaritan.
15. Peter walking on water

Spots and Wrinkles-Procrastination

Ephesians 5:27 “…that He might sanctify and cleanse her with the washing of water by the word. vs. 27 that He might present her to Himself a glorious church, not having spot or wrinkle or any such thing, but that she should be holy and without blemish.”

Procrastinator, are you in this class of waiting to self destruct?

I have come to believe from my personal experiences that procrastination is a habit! Yes, a habit and a bad habit! A sin habit!

Proverbs 29
1 A man who remains stiff-necked after many rebukes _ will suddenly be destroyed—without remedy.”

Again, Proverbs 29
1For people who hate discipline and only get more stubborn, there’ll come a day when life tumbles in and they break, but by then it’ll be too late to help them.”

Procrastination-putting off something… Procrastination is manifested in our lives by:

a) Delaying a decision, Continue reading “Spots and Wrinkles-Procrastination”

Alice, my friend

Alice Foreman Furlough, November 15,1915 – March 18, 2005

My beloved friend, Alice, has now been gone from us for a year. Alice would have been 90 years old in just a few months before she left. But God had a different plan for her 90th Birthday. We like to believe that she celebrated with her loved ones that had gone before her.

Alice was a very special friend. If you wanted someone to pray with you, you visited Alice, If you wanted someone to sing with you, you visited Alice. If you wanted someone to share a secret with, you visited Alice. If you wanted a hug, you visited Alice.

I was ten years old when I meet Alice, who became known to me as Sis. Furlough, in church in my hometown in NC. My Father had died and the Methodist church we attended had moved and a new little church had started in our Methodist church building. My Mother begaContinue reading “Alice, my friend”

A Song of Blessing

This song has been such a blessing to me that I would like to share with all of you. Let’s all just sing together now.

“God is in Control”
Twila Paris

This is no time for fear
This is a time for faith and determination
Don’t lose the vision here
Carried away by emotion
Hold on to all that you hide in your heart
There is one thing that has always been true
It holds the world together

God is in control
We believe that His children will not be forsaken
God is in control
We will choose to remember and never be shaken
There is no power above or beside Him, we know
God is in control, oh God is in control

History marches on
There is a bottom line drawn across the ages
Culture can make its plan
Oh, but the line never changes
No matter how the deception may fly
There is one thing that has always been true
It will be true forever

He has never let you down
Why stContinue reading “A Song of Blessing”

Happiness Belongs to You!

Benjamin Franklin was concluding a moving speech on the guarantees of the Constitution when a heckler shouted, “Those words don’t mean anything. Where’s all the happiness you said it guarantees us?” Franklin smiled and calmly silenced his critic.
“My friend, the Constitution only guarantees the American people the right to pursue happiness; you have to catch it yourself.”

Jesus, expounded this same teaching with the Beatitudes (Matthew 5). When we read Blessed are you, we are reading and hearing “Happy are you:”

Try reading the scriptures below by replacing Blessed with Happy and catch happiness.

And he opened his mouth, and taught them, saying,
3) Blessed are the poor in spirit: for theirs is the kingdom of heaven.
4 )Blessed are they that mourn: for they shall be comforted.
5) Blessed are the meek: for they shall inherit the earth.
6) BleContinue reading “Happiness Belongs to You!”

MOSAIC OF JOY

Sara’s Notes of Joy

(Zephaniah 3:17) “The Lord your God in your midst, The Mighty One, will save; He will rejoice over you with gladness, He will quiet you with His love, He will rejoice over you with singing.”

What do you do when The Lord is rejoicing with gladness and singing over you?

In the book of Zephaniah the prophet is describing the destruction of Judah, Philistine, Moab, Ammon, Ethiopia, and Assyria by the might nation of Babylon. Yet, Zephaniah was assuring these nations that not one nation of people was too far from God’s love, and not one nation was too small for His power! Then he closes this little book with powerful promises and encouraging the people to respond positively to God’s full circle of love.

How? (Zephaniah 3:14) “Sing, shout and be glad and rejoice with all your heart. (Verse 15 Amplified) (For then it wiContinue reading “MOSAIC OF JOY”
