  1. Wow, Chris. Your Photog. is amazing! Thanks for snapshot of Discovery as she slides into home plate….our own Dulles Airport and then take her rightful place in the Smithsonian Institution Air and Space Museum Annex right in our back yard.

    Great shot! Thanks, Sara, for posting Chris’ timely work.w

  2. “Look! Up in the sky! It’s a … space shuttle?”
    The space shuttle Enterprise left Dulles, Va for New York on Friday, April 27, 2012 — Gary and I got to stand and marvel at this wonder in the sky on Friday.
    Memories ensued on a bright clear day in a little school in Creswell, NC; morning of February 20, 1962 when they allowed a TV for the very first time to observe a world changing event;
    Astronaut John Glenn sat in a 9 1/2-by-6-foot space capsule he called Friendship 7 as he cruised through the heavens. My hands still shake when I think of this day.

    Placing our spacecrafts in museums without knowing when another will fly leaves a space in the heart of human man kind for some of us that experienced John Glenn’s first flight.

    Time to enjoy some museum sightseeing this summer and experience some hands on experiences of USA space history!
