A thoughtful note to think on:📝
YHWH / YAHWEH / JEHOVAH [yah-way / ji-hoh-veh]: “LORD” (Deuteronomy 6:4; Daniel 9:14) – strictly speaking, the only proper name for God. Translated in English Bibles “LORD” (all capitals) to distinguish it from Adonai, “Lord.” The revelation of the name is given to Moses “I Am who I Am” (Exodus 3:14). This name specifies an immediacy, a presence. Yahweh is present, accessible, near to those who call on Him for deliverance (Psalm 107:13), forgiveness (Psalm 25:11) and guidance (Psalm 31:3).
In this lesson, what struck me the most was verse 13 when God said to Israel, “…you have abandoned me and served other gods. So I will not rescue you no longer. Go and cry out to the gods you have chosen. Let them rescue you in your distress.” God saw the lack of sincerity of their hearts so the Israelites yelled a little louder. The bellhop demand as Pastor Reggie said is heard – Deliverance right now!!!
Thinking on this “NO’ by God I thought there will come another time when God says the final “no” which will ring out in the heavens for those who refuse God’s son as Savior and Redeemer. Matthew 7:22-23 Many will say to me on that day, Lord, Lord, did we not prophecy in your name and in your name drive out demons and in you name perform many miracles. Then I will tell them plainly, ‘I NEVER knew you. Away from me, you who break God’s laws.’ (Times up – NO more 1st, 2nd, 3rd………. chances, NO more excuses, NO more bellhop demands, DONE!
Rena, I’v been thinking on this today and hearing God’s voice, “I will not rescue you…”
It seems we hear this happening with parents and children all to often today. Watching families with a child addicted to drugs etc is 💔 Small children fighting with parents and parents warning etc and then it comes to a place where parents can’t do a thing to rescue them.
And, then on to the results you mentioned.
Sara I have given careful thought of the words you received from God, “I will not rescue….” The Bible is the looking glass presenting SIN in all it’s ugliness and the consequences – Each story teaching and each with an application.
I thank you Pastor Reggie for opening up Judges so we can see YAHWEH struggles with a disobedient stiff necked people.
Another way of saying this I got when I first started teaching Sunday School. An older lady came over to my classroom and she said, “My dear, your job is to take these young ones from self thinking to thinking of others and obedience to God. Which is a very difficult job!” It has stuck with me for many decades. Yes, very difficult! The job never ends until Jesus comes.
Sounds like a teaching God has been working on all through the ages. We see it with the unpacking of Judges every week. Words Sara heard again, “Not rescue” In the Bible – Hosea 4: 6 says, My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge.”
As a digger and wanting an understanding of the Word I’ve enjoyed Pastor Reggie’s deep digs and stories every week. I thank Sara M who is the head of this ministry, thedailylilylily.com who brings excellent teachers like Pastor Reggie who with sound, instructive teaching every week imparts knowledge of the Word of God. Truth and only truth is imparted.
We all need to ask ourselves, “Who are the teachers we listen to, who are the teachers our children listen to? With the knowledge of YAHWEH and application of that knowledge – yes rescue but lack of knowledge – distruction😭
To me, reading Sara’s ‘thoughtful note to think on” above especially, “This name specifies an immediacy, a presence. Yahweh is present, accessible, near to those who call on Him for deliverance (Psalm 107:13), forgiveness (Psalm 25:11) and guidance (Psalm 31:3).” and then hearing Pastor Reggie speak the name Yaweh, really gives impact.
Yet, I understood from Pastor Reggie’s teaching that even though Yaweh (who had provided all the things Sara wrote above) had delivered the Israelites from at least 7 oppressors; and that He “had suspended doing what was right in favor of what was merciful and gracious” they still had an ‘ungrateful attitude’ … and Yaweh said He was “sick of it.”
I have always loved the study of Tribes, maps, cultures and diversity. Reggie does a nice job of keeping us on the path of recognizing which tribes are in action, the locale, and interesting personality script to keep us interested in the story.
What about this Tola? A minor Judge, being in the time of constant turmoil in Israel. He rose to save (military Victory) Israel. He was of the tribe Issachar, 🐫lived in Shamer in the hill country of Ephraim…..ooops now I’m going to stop here and go on a map search east of the Jordan. Find Shamer, spelling and location🤔
I think this is OK for me to do since Reggie is in need of a new timekeeper 🥰 About the time I’m really into lesson, he says, times up. 🤷🏼♀️This truly is a series where you just can’t miss a lesson. ♥️
I feel the same way, listening to Reggie give the messages on Sunday night……”times up”! I think it’s the fastest 30minutes, in the world. It is so helpful having it recorded, and available to relisten to. Now, listening to this lesson and hearing YAWEH say, basically(if I understand correctly?🤔) ..”I’ve had it with you disobedient people, let your gods rescue you. “ Causes me to 🤔, how long will God be patience, merciful, etc to disobedience people on earth? 😳🙏
