Why the Nativity?

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonder. Isaiah 9:6

Once again, December is here and millions of people around the world will celebrate Christmas. What does this mean to you? What is a live Nativity in your home? What is your favorite Christmas story? MOVIE REVIEW

Has anyone seen these two movies and would like to share your comments with us? Or have you seen other movies that you would like to share or recommend?

HAPPY FEET (PG)
In the great nation of Emperor Penguins in Antarctica, you’re nobody unless you can sing, which is bad news for Mumble (Elijah Wood), who is the worst singer in the world. But he sure can tap dance. Mumble’s mom, Norma Jean (Nicole Kidman), thinks his dancing is cute, but his dad, Memphis (Hugh Jackman), says it “just ain’t penguin.” Besides, they both know that, without a “heartsong,” Mumble may never find true love. His one friend, Gloria (Brittany Murphy), happens to be the best singer around, and the two have a connection from the moment they hatch, even though she has a tough time understanding her pal’s eccentricities.

Our Thanksgiving

Last night I gave my two sons a piece of paper and pen/pencil. I asked them
to write three things they were thankful for. One wrote:1)food 2)family 3)
electricity, the other wrote 1)mom 2)dad and 3) brother. Now I had to write
my three things as well:1)my family 2) my health 3) a place to live. I began
to think on this and yes, I am thankful for all of these things, but we have
many blessings to be thankful for. This song is truly a great
blessing:
“Amazing Grace, how sweet
the sound, that saved a WRETCH
like me. I once was lost, but
now I’m found, was blind, but
now I see.”

God so freely offers this grace to everyone who will receive. May we all be
thankful this season, for His Grace!Continue reading “Our Thanksgiving”

Thanksgiving Prayer

“A Thanksgiving Prayer
Samuel F. Pugh
“O God, when I have food,
help me to remember the hungry;
When I have work,
help me to remember the jobless;
When I have a home,
help me to remember those who have no home at all;
When I am without pain,
help me to remember those who suffer,
And remembering,
help me to destroy my complacency;
bestir my compassion,
and be concerned enough to help;
By word and deed,
those who cry out for what we take for granted.”

I join Samuel F. Pugh in his prayers for Thanksgiving. I pray and remember especially the children and women of Darfur that are without their homes, food and care even at this very moment. I ask all of you to join with me in prayer for the ones that are hungry all over the world including our great nation, America.

If you would like more information about how to help in Darfur or other places you may visit the followiContinue reading “Thanksgiving Prayer”

Horse Back Riding with Jesus

My name is Noah and I’m eight years old. Last night my family and I were eating pizza and I started thinking about Jesus. I told my family that after the rapture, we still need to pray for the people that are going to be left behind. Those people that are left behind are going to have a hard time for seven years because that mean antichrist is going to trick them. If they listen to that mean antichrist they won’t go to heaven. That mean antichrist will even kill people that love Jesus. I told my family after seven years Jesus is going to come back riding a really cool horse and he’s going to have lots of crowns on his head. I might even be able to ride a horse and go with him to fight that mean old devil. Then Jesus will battle that mean old devil and Jesus is going to win. After that the smallest angel will throw that mean old devil and antichrist into a pit. They won’t be able to hurtContinue reading “Horse Back Riding with Jesus”

My Father’s Rich You Know

Being that it is Thanksgiving I especially give thanks to a heavenly
Father who always has time to listen and who has surrounded me with so
many wonderful friends on the Daily Lily. I give thanks for parents
who were always there for us.

My Father’s rich you know and I’ll tell you why? He spends hours
playing softball with me. He shows me how to hold a bat. He yells,
Run Fast. See my Father takes time with me, because my
Father’s rich you know.
My Father spends hours during the summer at the river with me. He
throws me in and listens to me giggle with glee. He yells, Swim
and then yells, Let’s do it again.
My Father also shows me how to fish. He then has me put my own bait on
the hook and yells, You can do it. See my Father has time to
spend with me, because he’s rich you know.
My Father spends hours playing games (board games, cards, and bad
mitten) with me aContinue reading “My Father’s Rich You Know”

Trumpet – The Big Green Turtle

Once upon a time, there lived a giant turtle. All the other turtles were very tiny and could move very quickly.

Trumpet, the big turtle, was so sad. He was so depressed.

“Why did God make me so big?” he asked. I can hardly move around in this immense jungle. The turtle cried out to God everyday to change him or his surroundings, but nothing happened.

The more depressed he became, the more he was made fun of by the other turtles. They called him a baby. “Hey,” they said, ” you may be big, but we tell you, you are a b-i-g baby. Stop all that whining and grow up.”

A wise, wise turtle saw how upset Trumpet was. He prayed and prayed. “Lord, how can I help Trumpet. What can I say to help him? Why did you make him so big?” The wise, wise turtle sat for a long time before the Lord. He heard from the Lord and then went to Trumpet.

“Hi Trumpet,” the wise one said, “I have just heardContinue reading “Trumpet – The Big Green Turtle”

My son, God’s Son

Monday afternoon, my son, Nathaniel, was very adamant about going in the attic. I asked him what did he need in the attic. He said, “oh, I just need to get something.” No matter what I said, it was obvious that he was going to be persistent, about getting in the attic, so I allowed him to go. While in the attic, he noticed the Christmas stuff, and asked if we could put the Christmas tree up. Well, I explained that it is a little early for that, since we haven’t even had Thanksgiving yet, and he was agreeable. Yet, he continued to look around at the Christmas boxes, and noticed the little Nativity box. He said, “Oh, mama, can I put the Nativity scene out?” I thought to myself, “it is never too early to remember the baby Jesus’s birth.” I said, “Of course, you can!” He so excitedly brought it down out of the attic, and I aContinue reading “My son, God’s Son”
