Clean Sheet Day

“It’s clean sheet day,” echoes my Mom from my memory banks. My Mom would
carefully hang the sheets one by one on the clothesline located close by
our rural white, shingled farmhouse. The post, which held the lines
looked, liked a row of white crosses holding up their prized possessions.
Mom especially loved the wind to blow at the same time as the sheets were
being hung as the wind would soften and unwrinkled the sheets. The sun
would kiss the sheets baking in its rays until a sweet fragrance emanated,
which was deliciously savored by the person resting from their day’s
journey.

I am reminded that in my own spiritual life that it is a joy to have a
clean sheet day. With all the talk about aromatherapy, this kind is the
most desirous. Once we have taken all our sins to God, holding nothing
back, God washes them all away. Just like sheets, theContinue reading “Clean Sheet Day”

Light another’s Candle

Mathew 5:16 “Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.”

This passage of scriptures seems to challenge my whole being. My Light to shine so others can see my good works and from my good works glorify my heavenly Father.

OK, what good works have I accomplished today that someone said WOW, God is so amazing and I just want to stand and sing praises unto His name. He is so good because of something you just did that I want to accept Him as my Lord and Savior. He is so good from your good works that I want to serve Him on the mission field. He is so good in your works that I want to go into ministry and make that my life’s calling. Whatever!!!!!

Most of us when someone makes a comment about something nice we have just done will say something so odd it hurts. For instance, you may say? You are so good Continue reading “Light another’s Candle”

How Smart is Your State?

The states ranked from the smartest to the… well not so smart.
States were graded on 21 factors, including student achievement and attendance, positive outcomes, strong student-teacher relationships and school district efficiency. Other factors are the number of high school graduates, reading, writing and math proficiency, percent of school-age kids in public schools, high school drop out rates, student-teacher ratios and class size.

The water must be good in New England. They four of the top ten spots. New Jersey comes in at # four. I guess that will put a stop to some Jersey jokes. Virginia made #7.

My Time with Roxy

After my morning devotions, a visit to ‘The Daily Lily’, and other preparations getting myself ready for the day, I go to the bottom of the stairs and listen and I know that there is someone at the bottom of the stairs doing the same thing…listening.

Then we both stick our heads around the corner and I see two large brown Puppy eyes staring
at me. It’s Roxy, aka The Daily Lily’s pug. I suppose she sees “breakfast, outside, tummy rub and
old sock tug of war”…well maybe she sees me too.

She likes the same thigs I do, can you imagine that? Sewing, crocheting,
painting and cooking, too. She follows me foot to foot, and if not, just with
her big brown puppy eyes she follows me. She is always there with her comforting puppy self. She seems to know the heaviness of my heart especially this week as my Mom is in the hospital with kidney failure, myContinue reading “My Time with Roxy”
