GENERATIONAL NEGATIVES (GN) Obedience Part II

See Part I
I am once again on (GN) my coined phrase for Generational Negatives. If you recall Part I talked about Passivity. Now Obedience! Not being Passive!

I have heard and seen so many issues recently relating to GN and seemly with The Seasonal Holidays at hand so are the GN’s.

Maybe GN’s are for the holidays. Where do they hide out on all the other days? What makes them pop like flies on these special family days?

Is GN within us? Therefore, when a GN force from another brings pressure to bear on our GN a hurricane effect hits and we, others and sometimes our families become a mess.

Who is your mother? Who are your brothers? When Jesus was told His mother and brothers were waiting outside to see Him in (Luke 8:19-21), He replied, “My mother and My brothers are those who hear the word of God and do it.”

I just loveContinue reading “GENERATIONAL NEGATIVES (GN) Obedience Part II”

Anne Rice: Vampires to Jesus

“Hey Mom, this woman writes the greatest vampire novels of all time. People have made movies out of her novels. I love her vampire stories, but it turns out she now has given it all up to write about Jesus.”

I received the above email from one of my sons referring to Anne Rice. It is thrilling to hear that Anne Rice is now writing about and for Jesus and not vampires. My son knew that I would not be thrilled if it were “Anne Rice giving up Jesus and writing for vampires.”

I am thinking Anne has surely flipped with such a flip from Vampires to Jesus.

Vampire, a European folklore and Jesus Christ, God – both are suffering men- one (vampire) claiming to exist eternally and one (Jesus) who does exist Eternally. One (vampire) taking the life of others, while the other, (Jesus) giving life to others. Blood is the issue in both stories, while one (vampire) is said to take aContinue reading “Anne Rice: Vampires to Jesus”

The I Am of a Team

T.O. (Terrell Owens, Philadelphia Eagles, the great)! Until just a few days ago I though the letters T.O. meant too old or too odd.

Terrell Owens just a few days ago played football with the NFL Philadelphia Eagles. Not only played but it was said of T.O. “one of the best or the best to play the game”. He entered into a brawl with his own teammates a week or so ago and no longer plays the game with his team. His team really needed him and of course this could change the outcome of the Eagles. Now for the ones of us that are ” Washington Redskin Fans” we just might not really mind not having him there. We are just thrilled that he is not there!

Brian William’s of NBC reporting last night about T.O. commented “No individual (I) is bigger than the team.” I thought right Brian, ‘I ‘ never makes a team. Many of us join a team and we only see I or me. Sometimes we speak of ouContinue reading “The I Am of a Team”

Bible Reading – Magical Thinking by Gary

Now reading the Bible in and of itself is not going to magically make you a better person, but it will if you follow what it says give you encouragement and equip you with tools to enable you to become a better person.

It’s a funny thing, but the more I read the Bible, the more it tells me if I want improved character I have to work at it. It tells me I must be an active participant and not wait in passive expectation. I think we or maybe just I had developed magical thinking. If I read the Bible so many times I will automatically become a better person. The funny thing is the Book I expected to magically change me tells me in both its old and new parts that if I want to change I must act on what I read.

James, the writer of the Epistle of James in the New Testament, and according to history the brother of Jesus writes, “don’t just hear the word of God just do itÐContinue reading “Bible Reading – Magical Thinking by Gary”

Throwing Your Light Forward

Another great workbook by Sara with Gary on Relationship, Friendship, and Fellowship.

Sara teaching “Throwing Your Light Forward” at CCI/ROSSOL Seminar

These six studies have been designed for groups to study “The True Light” and become enlightened by each other through sharing life’s eperieneces and Life Light.” John 1

We are given real life issues as found in both the Old and New Testaments to guide us into our own relationships and how to handle them according to God’s Word.

Each study ends with Q&A giving each participant in workshop/study/retreat time for reflection and sharing.

Great to use in small or large Bible Studies with facilitator or leader. These studies come out of a love that Sara has for small groups and their ability to share with one another for healing and help in the hope of loving and kind relationships. THANKSGIVING-GIVING THANKS

Are you able to recall the last time someone mentored you or taught you?
Are you able to recall someone coming along beside you maybe for just a season of your journey? They were just there long enough to help you overcome a spiritual obstacle or offer a special prayer for you, your family or friends.
How did you thank them?
Did you write them? Call them? Email them? Pay them? Give them a gift? Say a prayer for them? Think about them?
All the above ways are excellent ways to thank someone for their love and giving of themselves to us but there is one way higher than all others, I believe.
By sharing what we have learned and where we learned the principal and from whom we learned the principal or received the help with others has the greatest potential of increase for them and for you. Now you might ask why I believe this? Praise and Thanksgiving is one of the main themes ofContinue reading “THANKSGIVING-GIVING THANKS”
