Legend of the Dogwood
The season of Spring is upon us and the dogwood blossoms have unfolded in all their glorious beauty. I remember a poem/legend that my Mother used to tell us about the dogwood. The legend may be untrue, but like the sand dollar upon the beaches I believe God placed signs in nature so that we would not forget what his son did for us on the cross. The legend/poem is as follows:
Be in the moment
Jan Johnson writes in her book “Enjoying the Presence of God”, “Our problem is not lack of time, but failure to value the moments and to see God at work in it.”
Have Joy-Study
“As the Father has loved Me, so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. If you obey my commands, you will remain in my love, just as I have obeyed My Father’s commands and remain in His love. I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete”
(John 15:9–11, NIV))
Happy Easter
He is Risen, He is Risen indeed!
A Bird’s Eye View
In the heart of the Garden of Gethsemane a flock of birds nestled in the trees. They were hidden from view. They were constantly ease dropping on those walking about below. They heard every conversation and felt each attitude.
One evening they saw a small group of men enter the garden. They knew one of them for He was known as the Son of God. They then saw others coming into the garden. They were soldiers. What were they doing here? The soldiers walked up to Jesus and took him away. “Where were they taking Jesus?”
Scarecrow for Jesus
Once upon a time there lived a very handsome King. He was so kind. He was caring and giving. In fact, he gave everything to his subjects. He cared for them night and day.
One day he set about to look for a bride as the hour had come for his betrothal. He wanted someone with a loving heart. He wanted someone who was kind to their fellow man, and most of all someone who was not self seeking.
He looked and looked and looked. Some had beautiful outside appearances, but when he looked closer their hearts were as cold as frozen stones. Others seem to have no heart at all. He began to think that his search was in vain. “No bride for me. I have waited for so very long and still there is no one.”
Art work from
Under The Hand of Jesus
Several years ago I wrote a book (waiting to be published) entitled Under the Hand of Jesus. Debi of thedailylily.org did the watercolor drawings. In the story you might find yourself identifying with the main character, Leon. There seemed to be a cloud over his life. He couldn’t see past the cloud. One day someone helped him find the one who could truly help. The helper/mentor helped the main character understand that he needed Doctor Jesus because his heart was too full of hurtful things from the world. They were making him sick.

I will lift up my eyes;
I lift up my eyes to the hills- Where does my help come from?
My help comes from the LORD, the Maker of heaven and earth.
He will not let your foot slip –
He who watches over you will not slumber;
Indeed, he who watches over Israel will neither slumber nor sleep.
The LORD watches over you
