Multiplying House Plants

If you put your houseplants outside for the summer you will soon have to bring them back in if you live in an area like I do that gets frost and temperatures below 32F. You may notice that they have grown larger or longer (in the case of trailing plants) over the summer and may have overgrown the house space they were previously in. Many can be trimmed back without harming or disfiguring them. And the nice thing is, you can actually do something with many parts you trim off. This would be called propagation by cuttings. In other words, you can reproduce the plant you love, making more just like it. It’s fairly easy and inexpensive.

America needs prayer. Will you pray?

After watching the evening news today, I asked myself, “is the world in worse shape than when I was younger or am I just becoming more aware of its problems as I get older?”
I wondered if my dad when he was my age watching the Vietnam war, gas crisis and anti-war protest thought the world was getting worse or if he was just becoming more aware as he became older?
I watched and listened to reports of terrorists bombings in Pakistan, floods in the midwest, grandparents raising grandchildren in Florida, usually widows on a fixed income.
My thoughts about some of these events were indifference, I didn’t shed a tear for the families in Pakistan that lost husbands, sons, mothers and daughters to some disillusioned suicide bomber. I thought it was a shame that some homes were flooded. I felt sorrow for the grand-widows raising grandchildren on a fixed income.

Armor

I realize that most of our knowledge is an accumulation and compendium of concepts, ideals and truths we have gleaned from the Scriptures, God’s teachers of the Word and life experiences. But the Holy Spirit has been making the following a personal revelation to me.
Recently, as I was driving to school (a 32 mile commute) I was praying and repenting for neglecting to put on the armor of God every morning, (Rom. 13:12; Eph. 6:13). When, I believe the Holy Spirit quickened to my spirit; ‘the reason you neglect to put it on every day is because you really don’t believe it will do what the Word says it will do..because if you did trust & believe you would be sure to put it on every morning.’ That was a ‘wake up’ call and I was soundly rebuked for which I am grateful. So as I strive to remember every morning to put on the armor, the Holy Spirit has slowly revealed to me the necessity, the expediency and the urgency of that act of faith.

Moments of Joy

I love twisted potato chips? Don’t you? I had an opportunity to have lunch with my heavenly friends, @Panera Bread, one of my favorites.

Of course, I like chattering friends at times but didn’t have them on this trip. I guess my angels wanted to entertain me so I purchased my sandwich, soup and chips. It was all good. But, as I sneaked a chip one at a time out of the bag, which I normally do, and finding only a very few twisted chips most often.

Where is your focus?

2 Corinthians 11:3 “But I fear that somehow your pure and undivided
devotion to Christ will be corrupt, just as Eve was deceived by the
cunning ways of the serpent. 4 You happily put up with what ever
anyone tells you, even if they preach a different Jesus than the one
we preach, or a different kind of Spirit than the one you received,
or a different kind of gospel than the one you believe.”
2 Corinthians states ….JUST AS EVE WAS DECEIVED BY THE CUNNING
WAYS OF THE SERPENT….
