The Three Monkeys
Three monkeys sat in a coconut tree,
Discussing things as they’re said to be.
Said one to the others, Now listen, you two,
There’s a certain rumor that can’t be true;
That humans descended from our noble race,
The very idea is a shocking disgrace

I John 3:17
“But whoever has this world’s goods, and sees his brother in need, and shuts up his heart (bowels of compassion KJV) from him, how does the love of God abide in him?” 1 John 3:17 (New King James Version)
Heaven vs. Hell
I am teaching a Wednesday night class at church, Completely Free by Dan Strickland. Page 15 “Spiritual Awareness: Sin’s Corruption.” In this session we want to discover that when we suppress the truth, we separate ourselves from God; and as a result, we pay a terrible price.
The issue is especially important today because the average person does not associate the rampant evil in the world with humanity’s rebellion against God. The Bible teaches us that the result of rebelling against God’s truth is that we become more given to evil. The more given to evil we become, the more trapped we become in self-destruction behaviors and the greater penalty we pay in our daily lives as a result of this sin. Until we realize the root problem with mankind is defiance of God’s authority over us, we will continue on the path to ultimate destruction.
Mirror, Mirror
“Mirror, mirror of my mind who is the prettiest woman in this land.” (Have we heard this tale before?)
Oh my dear said the Mirror, “You are ugly as ugly can be.”
“Oh,” cried the woman, “I must be perfect. I must look young. I must do something about this terrible mess called me.”
“I’ll straighten my hair, fix my eyes, throw out my old clothes, and fix my jaw line, buy a new house.” Why does everyone look better than me she thought?
Rooster Choice
Nestled among the hills of Virginia was a seemingly quiet farm or at least it use to be before an arrogant rooster appeared one day. From the unusually quiet farmyard came a squawking that had not been heard before. All eyes searched the yard to see who was making all that commotion. A rooster standing proud, making himself seem ridiculous but yet noticed nevertheless. Did he not know the only job he had to do was to go cock-a-doodle do in the morning to wake up the barn creatures and welcome them to a new day – a new day given to them by God
Job well done
Luci Swindoll writes in “Irrepressible Hope Devotional”, “Continue trusting God with your needs and desires. He will make a way for you to do the things you think you can’t, meet the demands that seem impossible, and reap the rewards for a job well done.”

Glory of Grace
“As I look I see His Face shining as a ‘Glory of Grace’…” (Sara M, Waiting Room) Dedicated to Wendy Davenport…
So often I have found grace touching the very core of my inner being. Grace has infused me with gratitude to want to serve my Lord by serving others. The glory of Grace to the health of my inner being is God’s love being so perfected in myself and others that I serve out of love and not duty or law.
“God’s Face shining as a Glory of Grace” has appeared to me so often in the last week through the face of my friend, Wendy.
” Dear Wendy, my friend, and a friend of Jesus, You struck a core of love in the depth of my soul that laid empty from a story untold. Your generosity of sacrifice drove out fear and gave my faith a chance to survive in the dark of the night. Thank you, Wendy, my friend.”
Planting Color for Fall
Just because summer is fading fast doesn’t mean your garden color and excitement has to fade with it. September is a great time to change out those worn out blooming annuals for a fresh harvest look. A standing favorite are fall mums which come in a kaleidoscope of colors from yellows, oranges, reds and bronzes to lavenders, pinks and whites. One of my favorites is the Belgian mum with its giant mounding form. Unlike many other garden varieties, this series doesn’t need to be pruned during the spring and summer months to control its height and shape. It just naturally grows that way year after year if you plant early in full sun and water regularly
