What I saw in church

Recently I visited the Kihei Lutheran Church in Maui,Hawaii. The pastor of this open air church was the Rev. David Krueger. I was quite impressed by his involvement of all the youth in his service. His sermon on compassion filtered out in all that was going on in the church from involvement with the youth, to collection for cancer, to picnics for community of believers. He introduced the sermon by saying have you heard the phrase, “If you love me, you’ll …………” This saying is of the world. If you love me, you’ll buy me this or that. Jesus never said if you love me you will do this or that for me. He never directed attention to his self.

My Thoughts on gardening

“The Lord will guide you continually, And satisfy your soul in drought, And strengthen your bones; You shall be like a watered garden, And like a spring of water, whose waters do not fail.” Isaiah 58:11

Gardening is for souls that are home-bound to the
soil of the land.
Being good stewards of God’s earth and all its resources.

a unified person,

Have you ever looked at someone’s house and the surrounding landscape and thought wow! That’s beautiful! What a flow, a unity. The house looks like it was made for the landscape and the landscape looks like it was designed for the house. Or conversely, looked at another and thought something’s not right. The proportions are wrong, they disagree with each other, everything seems separated and nothing looks unified. I think because God is a God of order and balance and beauty that we, created in His image, have something within us that longs to see and experience the same in the world around us. Throughout the old testament there are illustrations of God instructing His artisans how to produce beautiful things according to His specific pattern so it brings a unified whole. He wants to do the same within us for we are a house, a temple. And I believe we long for that beauty and unity within ourselves as much as outside around us. I know it’s been on my mind and heart as He is soon coming for a beautiful bride, without spot, blemish or wrinkle.

If you build it they will come

“If you build it they will come.” If you will they will? We have all heard these words and some of us have watched and loved the movie “Field of Dreams” over and over hoping to learn how to build so they will come.
In “Field of Dreams”, an Iowa farmer all his life was searching for his dreams. Then one day, his dreams came looking for him. He hears a voice in his corn field tell him, “If you build it, he will come.” This farmer interprets this message as an instruction to build a baseball field on his farm.” And, come they did!
A tag line for this movie is, “If you believe the impossible, the incredible can come true.”
We at times while dreaming our dreams read the words of Luke from the Word of God, “With God nothing is impossible.” (Luke 1:37) In this story, Mary the Mother of Jesus, soon to be, hears a voice telling her that her cousin, Elizabeth, in her old age had conceived a son. Mary believed the impossible and went to see and the incredible came true. Have you ever thought about making a tag line for your dreams?

How is Vanity Affecting our lives

“The words of the Preacher, the son of David, king in Jerusalem. 2. Vanity of vanities, saith the Preacher, vanity of vanities; all is vanity. 3. What profit hath a man of all his labour which he taken under the sun?”(King James) Ecclesiastes 1-3 (NLT) Ecclesiastes 1-4 “These are the words of the Teacher, King David’s son, who ruled in Jerusalem. EVERYTHING IS MEANINGLESS. “Everything is meaningless, “says the Teacher, “utterly meaningless!”
