Has this day lost its glamour? Or, do you still feel and love the pomp of this day every four years?
Do we see and hear so many reprehensible things that its hard to appreciate hairstyles, clothes and pomp.
Hearing and watching the loss of lives in Algeria for the last few days; does it make you want to sit and cry and wonder why so much glib from Our Nations Leaders rather than a comforting, consoling voice to Our nation. Just read news with the following; “Prime Minister Abdelmalek Sellal is expected to give details at a Monday news conference about one of the worst international hostage crises in decades, which left American, British, French, Japanese, Norwegian and Romanian workers dead or missing. …”
Sometimes I think Sackcloth and Ashes should be the dress code for the day.
Snow, sleet, high winds, tornadoes and rain in many places. A great day for Thanksgiving, Gratitude, Praise and much Prayer! Many have to be on the roads for our health and safety. And, many of us have the rare option of taking extra time to commune with Our Creator.
Fiscal Cliff is back headlining the news. News is just that; much division, sorrow and woe from every corner of the world. I seem to remember somewhere in my past there was a news read called; The Good News.
Let us see if on this so called; dark, depressed day, December 26, 2012, when magic left and reality set in we can make our headlines by sharing; “The Good News!”
Not our brag power of gifts and babies, kids and movies, family and friends, money and power, but the power of The Good News. Or, is it so ancient that it has run out of power like an old broken toy? What story have we left to tell?
“Whatever you do, in word or deed, do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through him” Col. 3:17, NRSV
Q. Do you know what Jesus mean when he told his disciples they were the SALT of the EARTH?
“You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.” Matthew 5:13 NLT
When I was a child my Mother would give us a phrase she believed to be Biblical and we would have to search the scriptures of her most Holy Bible to see if truth or not? We only had one Bible then. That was the Family Bible. Now, most of us in our homes have many as well as online Bibles. Therefore, we should find truth fast. Yes, very fast in all areas of our life.
OK, let’s try it. Here’s my phrase!
“When I talk the “o serpent bites.”

David Teems, an excellent writer of devotionals, has presented an intriguing theory concerning God’s ability to throw our confessed sins into the sea of His forgetfulness. He writes that “God doesn’t operate in the the dimension of ‘time’ like we do; that is, linear, sequential “time”. Our experiences are “past, present, future but God operates in eternity and eternity frustrates the order of things we experience in ‘time”, i.e. to look back, or forward or remember or forget something and renders all that a non-issue to God.”
