Part VII Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

What Alice finds outside the March Hare’s house under a tree are the March Hare, the Mad Hatter and the Door Mouse all sitting at the corner of a large table having tea. When they see Alice approaching they cry out that there was no room, no room! Because there are only three at this large table and there is so much room for others, Alice indignantly assumes (wrongly…Oh! how much trouble we get into by assuming) that there is plenty of room for her and takes a seat in a large armchair at the end of the table.

Bible Reading reveals:

Trying to faithfully follow Gary’s yearly Bible Guide I found myself back in the book of Matthew, again, rereading the parable taught by Jesus, concerning the ‘Kingdom of GOD is like.’… an estate manager who went out in the first hour of the morning to hire laborers to work in his fields. They agreed to work for one dollar a day and did so. Later on he hired other laborers and they agreed to the same wage and went into the fields to work. At the last hour he found others standing around and he asked them why they were just hanging out. They answered that no one had ‘hired” them. So the manager I will hire you for a dollar a day and they agreed.

Part VI Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland

At the end of Alice’s last adventure, she has arrived at a house but doesn’t know whose it is. Now in this adventure she sees a fish livery footman arriving at the door and a frog footman answering the door. Their discourse gives an indication as to whom the house belongs to as the fish footman announces an invitation for the duchess to come play croquet with the queen. Alice wants to go inside but doesn’t know how and as the frog isn’t much help, Alice simply opens the door and goes in. There she finds the duchess nursing a baby and a cook hurling pots, pans and plates while making a highly peppered soup that causes the poor baby to howl and sneeze. The duchess is shaking the baby violently while singing a lullaby about the pepper and eventually tosses the baby to Alice to nurse while she gets ready to play croquet. Alice finds this baby rather queer shaped and sees that it is turning into a pig. She wants nothing more to do with the pig. (Would you, if someone’s behavior turns pig-like?) The pig grunts violently, she sets it down and then watches it trot off into the woods.

Jettison; but what

January 20, 2009- President Barack Obama made some startling picturesque remarks in his inaugurate speech.
“For we know that our patchwork heritage is a strength, not a weakness. We are a nation of Christians and Muslims, Jews and Hindus – and non-believers. We are shaped by every language and culture, drawn from every end of this Earth; and because we have tasted the bitter swill of civil war and segregation, and emerged from that dark chapter stronger and more united, we cannot help but believe that the old hatreds shall someday pass; that the lines of tribe shall soon dissolve; that as the world grows smaller, our common humanity shall reveal itself; and that America must play its role in ushering in a new era of peace.”
