Motivational Check-UP

How does one check their motives?

Words are cheap when actions are deceit. Words are valuable when actions of good are added. I have come to believe that words with action equals motivation. What is our motivation on any and every issue? How do we communicate our faith? How do we communicate our good deeds?

James says even Faith without good works is a valueless commodity. James being precise with his words repeats, “good works without faith is also valueless.” (James 2:14-19)

It takes faith with good works to show a valuable faith. James 2:19, “you say you have faith and have not good deeds to equal your faith but say ‘we believe there is one God, OK, even the demons believe this, and they tremble in terror.” What do we do? Do we believe and say as the demons? Or does our communication give a portrait of faith and good deeds that speaks loud and clear with power and authority over the demons that we are Faith showing and doing good deeds. Therefore, we have no fellowship with their ways.

Dream Big USIS Did

Tammy Mar of Northern Va. with her company, USIS, husband, Chris, and our host, Sara. came up with an idea to ‘help a child” to go back to school. When they approached Sara of The Daily Lily and CCI for suggestion of where to give, Sara thought of my classroom as she had spent a little time there last year in helping a child read.

This week at Seldens Landing Elementary in Leesburg, Va. the halls were invaded by a very professional team, the USIS, who were on a mission. As they walked the halls, teachers stopped preparing for their classrooms to peer out of classrooms in various stages of preparation to glance at this professional group. Unlike many missions the USIS have been on this was a different mission. They had bundles, bundles, and more bundles in hand. Over a thousand dollars of school supplies. They had to solicit a dolly to carry all the items down the long, highly polished corridor. This group under the leadership and direction of Tammy Mar had decided that they would adopt a classroom and help the community by bestowing their time and money all to benefit my class. The “team leaders” came to represent their group. In all more than 80 people contributed to bringing an early August Christmas to a class, which will come together for the first time, September 2nd.

The Kiss of Betrayal

As I was reading in Luke, I began to think about Judas Iscariot. Judas was one of Jesus’ twelve disciples. Jesus chose Judas and the other eleven men to follow him, eat with him and be his friend. Jesus loved his twelve disciples. They were always together. Jesus helped them in so many ways and taught each of them so much. Jesus knew that he would not be accepted by some people and they would spend eternity in Hell. He also knew that others would listen to the truth he spoke and one day spend eternity in Heaven. I could only imagine how his heart was broken when one of his precious disciples, whom he loved dearly, betrayed him. A man that he had shared so much with. A man that he had taught so much too. A man whom he had spent so much time with. We may ask ourself how did this happen? Why did Jesus’ chosen disciple betray him to be put to death? What happen to Judas’ love for Jesus? Luke 22:3-6:3 “Then Satan entered into Judas Iscariot, who was one of the twelve disciples, and he went to the leading priests and captains of the Temple guard to discuss the best way to betray Jesus to them. 5 They were delighted and they promised to give him money. 6 So he agreed and began looking for an opportunity to betray Jesus so they could arrest him when the crowds were not around.”

A dream by a 9 year old

James is 9 years old. He read his first book to his Father when he was 3 years old. He could read at an 18 year level when he was 5. He knows a lot about space and insects. James just had a very interesting dream.
His father would like to know what interpretation we get from it:
“I saw a cross made from top to bottom of gold, silver, bronze, iron, and clay. As dawn came, the sun came up and melted the clay. Then, the sun turned into a huge boulder. The boulder rolled into the cross and tore it into pieces, as the iron cracked into pieces. The pieces scattered everywhere. The boulder and the pieces hit the ground. Out of the rock sprouted 7 ears of grain, full and golden, forming a single stalk.
