Financial Crises Globally

The Psalmist says, “I have been young and I have been old, but I have never seen the righteous forsaken or their children begging for bread.”

I have been thinking about my place in this financial crisis our nation is going through and will go through for some time. I first remind myself that the righteous have an Anchor in the midst of this crisis. Let us hold on to the words of the Psalmist while being awake, alert to do the things we are directed to do by divine guidance from the Holy Spirit. The Book of John tells us the Holy Spirit, among many other things, is a counselor to us. Yes, a financial counselor to us as well as all other activities in the dailiness of our lives. That is, if we invite Him to be.

Minutes in Hell

I have been reading books by Bill Wiese about the Lord’s taking him to Hell for 23 minutes and his sequel to it on the subject of HELL. Some would ask, “why would Christians or any so-called good people want to read about Hell, anyway?”
Well, Jesus talked a lot about Hell and it kind of hit home when I was reading Jeremiah this morning in the beginning chapters, as well as throughout the whole book, God’s lamenting and His righteous anger with Judah and Israel because of their vehement backsliding. So I asked the Lord in prayer why in the world would HE want nasty ol’ Judah and Israel, anyway, when they had been unfaithful to Him, committing spiritual adultery, turning their backs and spurning Him after His gracious and magnanimous lovingkindness and compassion that He had shown toward them.

Torn at the Seams

I have heard often in the last year(s) that our nation, America, is “Torn at the Seams.” Do we have answers? I believe we do!

Saturday, September 27, 08, First Lady, Laura Bush with The Library of Congress will be hosting a “Book Festival” on The Mall, Washington, DC.

This will be an intergenerational event. Writers of children’s books, mystery writers, biographers as well as many other authors will be on ‘The Mall’ reading and modeling the joy and life of reading. Mrs. Bush invites us all to come. She says, “there will be something for all ages and all interest. Come and bring your families.”

My Journey to India

I have a lot of favorites as far as hymns go but one that sticks out in my mine the most is:
Here I am Lord
Words and Music by Daniel L Schutte © 1981
Genesis 46:2
“And God spake unto Israel in the visions of the night,
and said, Jacob, Jacob. And he said, Here am I.”
I, the Lord of sea and sky,
I have heard my people cry.
All who dwell in dark and sin,
My hand will save.
Chorus
Here I am, Lord. Is it I, Lord?
I have heard you calling in the night.
I will go, Lord, if you lead me.
I will hold your people in my heart.
I, who made the stars of night,
I will make their darkness bright.
Who will bear my light to them?
Whom shall I send?

Interchange of thoughts

I discovered something On the subject of communication and interchange of thoughts and ideas and information In reframing  and reapplying the lesson on the gift of tongues from Paul in the Book of 1Corinthians 14:6-11.  Paul is speaking of Tongues and Interpretation of Tongues but the spiritual counsel he gives can be used in reframing how we think about communication and interaction among ourselves in the Body of Christ and life , in general.
He says, “ I would that you all spoke with  tongues but even more, that you would prophesy so that the church may be edified and built up by your exhortation.”  He explains further, “Now brothers and sisters, if I come to you speaking in another tongue or language how would that profit you as you have no idea what I am talking about; but rather I should speak to you clearly, with some knowledge and divine revelation or by the Word of God.  Then you would understand what I am saying to you.”

A Story I remember

It was Mrs. Wagoner, my third grade teacher that read us a story about a boy wanting to develop his muscles. The boy about twelve wanted to grow muscles. He went around his town asking people how to do this. He went to a house at the edge of town. There was a guy chopping wood. So the boy asked him, “mister do you know how to grow muscles, see mine are really small?”

The old guy said, “let me think about it, I’ll sit here while you chop some wood that’ll be the pay for me telling you how to grow muscles.” Well the boy chopped wood for an hour that day. He stopped and asked the guy “do you have any ideas yet?” The old guy said “no, but if you come back tomorrow this same time I’ll think about it some more while you chop wood.”
